The T654n is Lexmark's top-of-the-line monochrome laser business printer, intended for use in high-volume office environments. Network-readiness is built-in, and a duplex model is available. A 600MHz processor enables a 55ppm print speed (versus the T652n's 50 ppm) with a time-to-first-page of 7.5 seconds.

The 256MB standard memory – double that of the T652n – can be expanded to 1280 MB, while the 7,000-page cartridge can be replaced with a 25,000-page high yield or 36,000-page extra high yield version to reduce waste. The multipurpose feeder and input tray can also be expanded in multiple ways; input capacity can be increased to 4,300 sheets. As in the T650n and T652n, security features include encryption, network security, and an alphanumeric pad which allows for confidential printing through PIN authentification. Lexmark also aims to reduce the T654n's impact on the environment with power-saving and noise-reducing modes, and support of recycled paper.
