Lexmark T644

$900.00 Released June, 2005

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Can use prior versions of Lexmark drivers, eliminating need to install if an old printer was Lexmark. Comes through on 50ppm rating, consistently speedy high-volume print jobs. Very crisp print quality, better than average for the speed at which it prints.

The Cons:Can take up to 30 seconds to print a page if not already warmed up. Toner cartridges have slightly shorter life than previous Lexmark models of this type.

The Lexmark T644 is a higher-end monochrome laser printer aimed at demanding corporate users. Unlike in Lexmark's newest models, built-in network and duplex printing are optional. Compared to the T642, the T644 boasts a more powerful 514MHz processor, enabling a higher print speed of up to 50 ppm, with a time-to-first-page of 8.5 seconds, and greater standard memory of 128 MB.

The RAM can be expanded to 640 MB, while the 6,000-page cartridge can be replaced with a 21,000-page high yield or 32,000-page extra high yield version; the multipurpose feeder and input tray can also be expanded in multiple ways. Like the T640 and T642, the T644 supports a number of security protocols and enables confidential printing as each person in an office can be assigned a 10-digit PIN which must be entered before a document prints. Other features include a USB port that allows PDF documents to be printed from a flash drive.
