Compared to the T640, the T642 boasts a more powerful, 457MHz processor and a higher print speed of 45 ppm, but a slightly lengthier time-to-first-page of 8.5 seconds. The 64MB standard memory can be expanded to 576 MB, while the 6,000-page cartridge can be replaced with a 21,000-page high yield version; the multipurpose feeder and input tray can also be expanded in multiple ways. The T642 supports a number of security protocols and enables confidential printing as each person in an office can be assigned a 10-digit PIN which must be entered before a document prints. Other features include a USB port that allows PDF documents to be printed from a flash drive.
