A large step up in terms of functionality, the 6988dt is faster, contains cartridges with 2-3x the ink capacity and has a built in Ethernet port for operation on a network without a host PC required to be online. The ability to print double sided with a much larger reserve of paper is also included with the 6988dt, two options that require add-ons be purchased separately on the basic 6988. Similar in most aspects to the 6940dt, the 6988dt adds wireless functionality for only $10.
