HP DeskJet 450Ci

$200.00 Released May, 2006

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Special ink cartridge allows for high-quality, on-the-go photo printing. Compatible with most wired and wireless devices (infrared, USB, Bluetooth). Print directly from CompactFlash cards--cuts out the need for a PC when printing digital photos.

The Cons:Despite its advertised portability, it's still not the most portable device as it adds an extra 4.5 lbs to your portable gear. Bluetooth connectivity requires purchasing a separate adapter--something which often comes standard with the base model. Printing from CompactFlash requires that your camera supports DPOF (Digital Print Order Format)--a lot of non-HP cameras don't.

The Deskjet 450Ci is the base model in HP's line of mobile printers. It features no screen, opting for portability and durability over size-adding features. With an optional lithium-ion battery, the printer weighs 4.5 pounds and can print 350 pages per charge.

Great performance--decent printing speed, excellent quality prints, from documents to photos, in a very small form factor.

Lithium-ion battery must be purchased separately, limiting the "print anywhere" design.
