Epson Artisan 50
$100.00
Released May, 2009
The Pros:Excellent overall print quality at the price point - text is bold and clear while picture are vivid and true-to-life in terms of color representation. Unit is easy to get up and running - "plug-and-play" design is ideal for inexperienced users who want to get right to printing. Image reproduction is remarkably sharp considering the price point - outperforms similarly-priced competitors from Canon and Lexmark.
The Cons:Printouts may not always be true to software scale - users report various issues, specifically with CD inserts that may end up more than 5mm off-size. Very difficult to replace ink cartridges upon depletion - even when properly installed, the unit will frequently reject "genuine" Epson cartridges. Included CD/DVD software drivers are fairly sparse in terms of customization options - users may need to resort to third-party image processing programs to attain certain features.
