Canon PIXMA iP6220D

$80.00 Released October, 2005

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Photo quality is excellent for the price, no visible difference between photo lab printing. Color contrast and vibrancy exceeds most printers in this price range. Packaged software is convenient and easy to use, solves connection problems if user has an incompatible (non-PictBridge) camera.

The Cons:Ink cartridges are small and expensive compared to other Canon/competitor's printers in this range. Drains ink far too quickly to be practical to use for simply black and white text printing. Very limited aftermarket ink compatibility, essentially stuck with expensive Canon brand.

The Canon PIXMA iP6220D is a basic color inkjet printer meant to be a photo printer, and it includes a 2.5" LCD display on top of the unit, which can then select photos to print. It is essentially the same as the PIXMA iP6210D, upgraded to include the screen and memory slot.

It automatically reduces red-eye and improves facial lighting, and the LCD screen can be used to print directly from memory cards. Direct printing is also possible with PictBridge-enabled digital cameras, and wireless printing is possible with infrared phones and PDAs. Bluetooth printing is also an option, but requires an additional Bluetooth adapter. The iP6220D can print a 4" x 6" photo in about 60 seconds. Overall, the printer has 2304 nozzles and uses six different colors of ink.
