Canon PIXMA iP4920
$99.99
Released July, 2011
The Pros:CD/DVD label printing feature is excellent - user settings are very easy to configure, with an average print time of ~60 seconds. Duplex printing capabilities are an excellent addition - especially beneficial for extensive multi-page document printing. Excellent overall print quality at the price point - black levels are rich and bold with vivid, balanced color hues.
The Cons:CLI-226 ink cartridges hold approximately 20% less ink than the CLI-8 cartridges included with the iP4500 model - sure to contribute to considerable ink costs over time. Unit is highly-prone to ink-clogging issues - excessive color printing may result in total unit malfunction.
The Canon PIXMA iP4920 is a color ink jet printer capable of printing a maximum paper size of 8.5" x 11" at 9600 x 2400 dpi resolution. This and the PIXMA MG5320 were both announced in July 2011, and both feature updated Canon Easy Photo Print EX software with added Fun Filter Effects such as Fish-Eye, Toy Camera and Miniature.

You can also print directly onto DVD's, Blu-ray discs and CD's, as well as apply other effects such as Soft Focus for soft and blurred pictures as well as Blurred Background for adding blur to specific parts of an image. Automatic duplexing is a time saving feature that will print on both sides of the paper without manual reloading, and like the MG5320 it utilizes the same ChromaLife100 + ink system with five individual ink tanks. Registered owners of either of these printers are given access to Canon's Creative Park website and Creative Park Premium, offering free usage of scrapbooking templates and embellishments, 3-D paper craft projects, novel greeting cards and educational materials, as well as post cards, albums, and paintings by famous artists like Norman Rockwell. Those seeking a wireless printing solution with an LCD display and the ability to access and print much more online content including personal documents stored at the PIXMA Cloud Link website all directly from the printer without the need for a computer might be more interested in the MG5320. MG5320 also features multiple memory card type support and scanning.
