The Pros:Cheap OEM drum and toner cartridges are available. Handles multiple operating systems, including ones that frequently have compatibility issues with other printers such as OSX and Vista. Very fast print speed, starts quickly and lays ink without pauses.
The Cons:Scanner doesn't handle color very accurately, tends to leave streaks across them. LCD display is small and has no backlight, difficult to read even in a well lit room. High toner costs with lower yields than claimed.

Like its predecessor, the DCP-7040 features black and white printing at 23ppm, black and white copying at 23cpm, and a maximum optical scanning resolution of 600x2400 dpi. Plus, the DCP-7040 includes a document glass that can be used to make reduced/enlarged copies directly from the unit, thereby eliminating the need to utilize PC software. Or the glass can be used to scan pages directly to email or a PDF file. The Brother HL-7040 retails for $179.99 and comes with a 1 year limited warranty.
